Genesis

In the beginning, God made everything. He created the earth, the sky, and the stars. Then he created man and woman. And then he created Adam and Eve. It speaks of Noah and the flood, the Garden of Eden, and the Tower of Babel.

Genesis can be referenced as the first book of the bible’s telling. It sums up world history and the life and history of the Israelites. 

Exodus

After creating everything, God decided to give his creation one more chance. So he sent Moses into Egypt with the Israelites. They were enslaved people there for 400 years. Finally, God told Moses to return to Pharaoh and tell him to let the people go. Pharaoh refused. So God punished him by killing all of the firstborn sons in Egypt. This was called the Passover. It was a celebration because the Israelites had been freed from slavery.

Leviticus

In Exodus 12:40-42, we learn that the Israelites were afraid of the Egyptians after seeing what happened to the firstborn son of every Egyptian household. So God gave them instructions on how to celebrate Passover. He also told them not to eat bread made with yeast the week before the holiday.

Leviticus comes from the Old Testament and can be referenced in “The Third book of Moses”

God commands his people of Israel and the priest to be holy and make offerings in the Tabernacle and how to conduct themselves around the heavenly tent sanctuary. 

It explains animal sacrifice and other rituals to help the children of Israel learn about the atonement of Jesus Christ.

Numbers

This book tells us about Moses’ birth, his family life, and his early years as an orphan. It also describes how Pharaoh’s daughter and her husband raised him.

Deuteronomy

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good, and he divided the light from the darkness. He called the light Day and the darkness he called Night. So there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
