“Bestselling Author of The Sisters Weiss”

Lola, a vibrant California girl, seemed to have it all figured out. With a business degree under her belt, a handsome fiancĂ© by her side, and a promising career on the fast track, her life appeared to be on the path to success. However, fate had other plans in store for her. In a sudden and tragic turn of events, Lola’s carefully constructed life crumbled before her eyes, leaving her devastated and searching for answers.

After years of fruitless endeavors in her pursuit of love, marriage, and motherhood, Lola made a bold decision that would change the course of her life forever. She embarked on a journey to find spirituality and meaning outside the confines of modern society. Her quest led her to the insular and ultraorthodox enclave of Boro Park, Brooklyn, where she would encounter a world vastly different from her own.

It was in this unfamiliar community that Lola’s path crossed with Jacob, a recently widowed Torah scholar grappling with his turmoil. As she entered his dysfunctional home, she discovered the yearning of his young children for the nurturing touch of a woman. While Lola’s mother warned her of the dangers of becoming entangled in what she perceived as a misogynistic religious cult, Lola’s heart told her that the situation was far more complex than it seemed.

Little did she know that the messages she would encounter within this new community would challenge her beliefs and force her to confront the difficult choices that lay ahead. Ultimately, it is these choices that will shape Lola’s destiny in Naomi Ragen’s powerful and poignant novel, “An Unorthodox Match.”

  1. Davis Allen

This book tells the story of a woman who experiences a major upheaval in her life and decides to turn to religion to find her way. The protagonist is a non-religious Jewish woman from California who finds herself feeling lost and adrift after her life takes a turn for the worse. In an effort to find meaning and purpose, she decides to immerse herself in Judaism and becomes involved in the ultra-orthodox community in Borough Park, Brooklyn.
As she becomes more involved in the community, the protagonist volunteers to help a widowed Torah scholar with children whose home is in disarray. This decision leads her on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth, as she learns more about the insular and often misunderstood world of ultra-orthodox Judaism. Along the way, she forms a deep connection with the widower and his family, and together they navigate the challenges and joys of their shared experiences.
The author of this book clearly has a deep understanding of the ultra-orthodox Jewish community, and she writes with a sense of authority and authenticity that brings the story to life. The result is a novel that is both entertaining and informative, offering readers a glimpse into a world that is often shrouded in mystery and misunderstanding. Through the protagonist’s journey, readers are invited to explore themes of faith, family, and community, and to consider the ways in which these things can provide meaning and purpose in our lives.
