In my life, I have lived multiple lives, each leaving its mark on the stories I write. Younger, I was never afraid to take risks and challenge myself. At just thirteen years old, I found myself breaking wild mustangs in Oregon. However, I approached this task with love and compassion. Rather than resorting to threats or pain.

As a teenager, I ventured into various endeavors to support myself. I spent countless nights picking night crawlers in the orchards of Oregon from 9 pm to midnight. Tirelessly working to earn money for my school clothes and books. Determined to pursue my dreams, I even saved up $600 to take flying lessons at the Medford airport. Despite being a girl in a male-dominated field, I soloed in a Cessna 150 single-engine airplane after just 12 hours of training. By the time I joined the US Navy at 18. I had accumulated an impressive 39 hours of flight time.

Serving in the military as a weather forecaster. I couldn’t continue flying, but I found solace in observing the clouds above. However, my passion for aviation never waned. I had the incredible opportunity to fly in a B-52 bomber for a day and night mission. Spending a total of 18 hours in the air. Additionally, I experienced the thrill of riding in a T-38 Talon jet as a passenger on a test flight in a Dragonfly jet. Beyond aviation, I also made my mark in the world of sports. As one of the pioneering women fencers in the American Fencing League of America. I fought against the notion that certain weapons were too heavy for women. Through our determination and skill, we paved the way for women to compete in foil, epee, and sabre in the Olympics. Later, as a civilian, I became the first woman in an all-male fire department in West Point, Ohio. Where I honed my firefighting skills and became an expert in handling hazardous materials. All these experiences have shaped the edgy, gritty, and emotionally intense love stories that I write in my books.
