The author, Ali Smith, is portrayed as someone who tells the impossible tale of an impossible time. Hinting at the

transformative power of storytelling in the face of adversity and uncertainty. In the current era marked by walls and lockdowns, Smith is depicted as someone who opens the door—symbolizing the potential of narratives to bridge divides and foster connections in times of isolation and confinement.
