Houston Chandler, a demure beauty, and her spirited twin, Blair, venture on a thrilling journey filled with frontier adventures. And heartfelt passions that ignite like the clash of ice and fire.

In this enthralling tale, Jude Deveraux skillfully weaves a narrative that explores the choices Houston faces. Should she remain safely ensconced in the familiarity of her current life, or should she take a daring leap of faith in the possibility of true love? As the story unfolds, readers will be delighted by the intricate dynamics between the characters and the emotional depth that permeates every page.

Jude Gilliam was born on September 20, 1947, in Fairdale, Kentucky. She comes from a large extended family and is the eldest sister among four brothers. After graduating from Murray State University with a degree in Art, Jude got married in 1967 and took her husband’s last name, White. Unfortunately, the marriage ended in divorce four years later. Despite this setback, she continued to pursue her passion for teaching and worked as a 5th-grade teacher for several years.

In 1976, Jude decided to explore her writing talent and published her first book, The Enchanted Land, in 1977 under the pen name Jude Deveraux. The success of her debut novel led her to resign from her teaching position and focus on her writing career. Over the years, Jude has become a prominent author, with 31 New York Times bestsellers to her name. Her gorgeous storytelling has won the hearts of readers worldwide.

Jude’s novels often transport readers to different periods, from 15th- and 16th-century England to post-Revolution America and 19th-century Colorado. Her strong and passionate protagonists navigate through blood feuds, wars, and family dynamics, creating compelling narratives that keep readers hooked. While she has dabbled in contemporary fiction, Jude’s true calling lies in historical romances that showcase her talent for creating vivid atmospheres and engaging characters.
